Change a future
In Turkey children go to school when they are 7 years old and then most of them go in public school to the age of 15. To be able to go to college (and then to university) after you are 15 you will need to pass some tests. In order to pass the tests you need to go to "extra school" outside of the public school time. The extra school costs around £300 (3500 SEK) per year for tuition and books.
So poor families will therefore not be able to send their kids to the extra school and therefore many childre stop school at te age of 15 no matter how brilliant they are. Especially that is the case with regards to girls, where the tradition is that they should be home and help out.
You and your family (or company) can change that predictable future by sponsoring one of these children. They introduce themselves on the next page, see "Children". These children want to go to college and university.
They will share with you (either on this website or through email) how they are doing. You will be able to hear and see how you make a difference for this young person, for their family and in the long future who knows what this person will do in life because of your contribution ? Remember that Obamas father was getting a scholorship for studying in USA from a group of private fundraisers in the beginning of 1960.
If you want to participate to sponsor a child this way, we ask you to sponsor them for 2 years (£150 payment once every 6 months).
